**NEW TOPIC Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in the Medicare Population
The Symposium is free and open to all ISPOR delegates, no pre-registration required.
This session will describe an application of the Archimedes Model to analyze the morbidity, mortality, and cost of CVD in the Medicare population and the effects of 16 different strategies for preventing CVD. The interventions include aspirin, smoking cessation, weight loss, and blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose control. Results will be presented in the form of an “annual report” – Medicare can expect to see each year over the next 30 years, taking into account the changes in demographics over that period. The presentation will include an explanation of how the Archimedes Model represents populations, physiological and diseases, care processes, the effects of interventions, behaviors, and financial costs.
