The third Scientific Conference of the ISPOR Polish Chapter took place
on 24th of October 2005 in Warsaw. This event was supported by Warsaw
University of Technology and Drug in Poland (medical journal edited by
one of the leading Polish medical publishers).
The aims of the Conference were to review growing activities of the
Polish members of ISPOR in the international working groups, to reflect
upon the reimbursement systems in the European countries and - last but
not least - to share results of pharmacoeconomic studies lead in Poland
in 2005.
We were honored to listen to the lecture of our special Guest, Professor
Christian Gericke (Health Care Management WHO Collaborating Centre for
Health Systems Research and Management, Technische Universitat, Berlin).
He was talking about reimbursement systems functioning in the European
Union, sharing with conference participants his expert view of the
complex area of drug reimbursement. Further presentation of guests from
Ukraine concerning projected national Ukrainian formulary stayed in line
with this subject, providing participants with the opportunity of
comparison Union regulations with other European solutions.
Thirteen oral presentation were given during two sessions set aside for
the original papers. Submitted abstracts were reviewed by the members of
the Scientific Committee (Professors and PhDs).
The Organizing Committee (members of ISPOR Poland Chapter) undertook the
efficient planning and monitoring of all the events.

The third Scientific Conference of the ISPOR Polish Chapter was seen as
the important event in the Polish pharmacoeconomic scene, giving
opportunity to share knowledge, to communicate study results and to
reflect upon reimbursement systems in Europe, which can be seen as
especially interesting in the light of recent and projected changes of
the Polish healthcare system.
