call in July with new Student Council President Larry Humble, RPh, of The
University of Louisiana at Monroe. Preliminary plans are now being discussed by
the European members of the council on a European Virtual Student Chapter. Additional
discussion among the group included submission of Fall Chapter reports, exploring
ways to encourage new student chapters, an icebreaker meeting at the ISPOR 7th
European Congress in Hamburg, Germany, new t-shirts, and Webmaster plans. For

RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIALS ALONGSIDE COST EFFECTIVENESS ANALYSIS
(RCT-CEA) TASK FORCE
The RCT-CEA Task Force is currently involved in formulating
a draft document to be presented at the 7th European Congress in Hamburg, Germany on Tuesday, 26 October 2004 at 13:00. Prior to this forum a face-to-face
meeting with all Task Force members will take place September 25 – 27 to facilitate
the process of editing the document. Reference group members will have the
opportunity to observe the presentation at the forum and will also receive the
draft shortly after the October meeting to develop consensus of the document.
This document will be published in Value in Health in the Spring of 2005.

MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES SEEING REAL SAVINGS
July 30,
2004 – Centers for
Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Mark B. McClellan, M.D.,
Ph.D., today announced that enrollment in the Medicare-approved drug discount
card program has surpassed the 4 million mark – eclipsing the pace of
enrollment in the popular children’s health program.
