PATIENT REGISTRY SIG
**NEW** Let us know what you think… in less than 5 minutes!
Participate the Patient Registry SIG Survey! The Patient Registry SIG is conducting
this brief survey to gain a better understanding of the needs of users of
patient registry information. The results will enable the SIG and the
Working Groups to focus specifically on activities that will have the greatest
benefit to the outcomes research community and users of outcomes research
information derived from patient registries.

MISSION: To provide an international forum for
ISPOR membership to identify and address comprehensive issues in the development and use of retrospective clinical, survey
and administrative databases for pharmacoeconomic outcomes research.
GOALS: Identify main issues, including determining standards, best
practices or gaps that exist in identified areas. Form workgroups to address the state of the
art in each area, producing peer reviewed literature,
dissemination of standards and policy recommendations as feasible and appropriate.
WORKING GROUPS:
Classification of Databases
- who, what, where of US, Canadian, European, International
clinical, survey, and administrative healthcare
databases
Policy Advocacy - how research using these sources of information can
inform policy decision-making.
Research Design & Analysis – collect state of the art and future
directions on issues of research design and statistical analysis.
Database Development –
represent researcher needs in discussion with public and private database developers as they address data release and other
policy concerns.
Privacy Regulations - impact of HIPAA and other levels
of regulation on current and future practice.

MEDICATION COMPLIANCE SIG
Forum at the 7th European
Congress:
Issues in Medication Compliance and
Persistence Research:
The forum examined major applied research issues important for the assessment of
medication compliance/adherence/persistence. The discussion reviewed the
definitions, methods of analyses, economic impact, and educational components
currently under development by the
SIG. Panelists discussed the approaches with comments and suggestions to help
move ISPOR into the forefront of medication analyses and enhancements.

Forum at the 7th European
Congress: Industry
and Regulatory Perspectives on Translating Patient Reported Outcome (PRO)
measures
The forum compared and contrasted different
approaches to translation and cultural validation of instruments prior to their
use in clinical trials. Speakers
discussed the potential costs and benefits of these approaches, including their
implications for bias and precision of results; and provided regulatory perspectives
on issues such as the role of certification and validation requirements for
multinational trials.
