August 18-20, 2008
Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA
Improve your
analytical and quantitative skills
to
enhance health outcomes research
This program is geared to introductory-intermediate learning levels to help participants design, implement, and analyze outcomes studies, and critically review and use outcomes data for clinical decision making, health care planning, and technology development. The course provides participants with an overview of several topics in the exciting new field of health outcomes, equipping new comers with knowledge of the language and concepts.
In an increasingly competitive health
care market, outcomes evaluation, and research is important for:
* Improving patient outcomes
* Controlling costs and allocating resources
* Implementing disease management programs
* Making effective clinical and business decisions
* Developing and marketing health care products and
services
"The program fully met my high expectations and had great practical relevance, which was important to me as a clinician." - Kevin James Mulhall, MD, Orthopedic Surgery, University of Virginia Fontaine Research Park
CME and CEU Credits Available. For a detailed agenda
or to register, visit: Harvard School of Public Health, Center for Continuing Professional Education or call (617) 384-8692.

Q: What will my contributions mean for
patients?
A: Answers.
For more than 130 years, Lilly has been dedicated
to meeting the health care needs of people in the United States and around the world. We address these needs primarily by developing
innovative medicines—investing a higher percentage of our sales in research
and development than any other major pharmaceutical company.
Eli Lilly and Company is expanding its
Global Health Outcomes function and is seeking qualified candidates for the
following positions:
The Outcomes Research Scientist is
responsible for the conduct, quality, and integrity of health outcomes
studies and scientific disclosures resulting from their research. The
Scientist effectively communicates health outcomes findings and concepts to
internal and external business partners and takes a leadership role in the
dissemination of health outcomes research findings to the scientific
community. Projects may focus on treatments that Lilly is developing and
span the entire lifecycle of development and commercialization. Other
projects may focus on key health care policy issues that impact patient
outcomes.
Qualified candidates will hold an advanced
degree, including Ph.D., M.D., or master’s degree in a relevant discipline
(e.g., economics, epidemiology, health administration, pharmacy, health
services, medicine, pharmacoeconomics, psychology, statistics, or other
relevant sciences) with at least 2 years of experience. Significant
experience in designing, conducting research, and disseminating the results
in the areas of health economics, economic modeling, clinical trials,
cost-effectiveness evaluation, PRO instrument development,
observational/epidemiologic research, health
technology assessment, and/or health care policy may substitute for the
formal degree requirement. Clinical or therapeutic expertise in the areas
of neuroscience, oncology, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular, acute care,
musculoskeletal, or inflammation is desired.
The Outcomes Liaison (OL) serves as
the scientific interface between Lilly’s Outcomes Research function and
value based population decision makers by answering unsolicited questions,
providing disease state, therapy specific, and pharmacoeconomic information
to external customers in Managed Care, Medicaid, and Institutional
settings.
Qualified candidates will have a PharmD,
MSN, MPH, MHA, Ph.D., or have an undergraduate clinical degree (i.e.
nursing, pharmacy) with an MBA, MS in a relevant discipline. Candidates
must have experience in designing, conducting, communicating, or applying
outcomes research; relevant clinical experience in the managed care environment;
understanding of FDA regulations related to the submission of
pharmacoeconomic data and requirements for pharmacoeconomic promotion and
labeling; and population-based health care management experience.
All qualified candidates must be legally
authorized to be employed in the United States. Eli Lilly and Company does
not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B
status) for these current opportunities.

information or to apply, visit:
www.lilly.com/careers.
