COUNCIL OPERATIONS
Council 1st Teleconference
April 23rd, 2006, 9:00-10:00 PM US EST the Council held its first teleconference. Marilyn Dix Smith, ISPOR Founding Executive Director, chaired this conference. The Council Policies and Procedures consulting version was mainly discussed. In addition, Nancy Travis, Council Steering Committee Chair, reviewed the Council Inaugural Meeting and First Forum, and introduced the Purpose and Accomplishments of the Council Steering Committee. The Steering Committee was suggested to be reconstructed into the Council Advisory Committee; Council members GUAN Zhiqiang, CHEN Jie, Isao Kamae, PHUA Kai Hong, and Madeleine R. Valera expressed their willingness to serve the Council as chairs or chairs-elect. The Council Chairs and Chairs-elect are elected officers with a two-year term beginning on July 1st and ending on June 30th. Council Policies and Procedures Approval
May 15, 2006, the Council Policies and Procedures were approved by the Council with receiving absolute majority of votes from the Council incumbent members. May 20th, 2006, on behalf of the Council, Nancy Travis was invited to introduce the Council and its initiatives at the 2006 ISPOR Leadership Retreat prior to ISPOR 11th Annual International Meeting, Philadelphia Marriott, Philadelphia, PA, USA. Council and Advisory Committee Chair and Chair-elect election
June 15th, 2006, the Council Chair and Vice Chair for the terms of 2006-2008, 2008-2010, and 2010-1020 were elected and announced. All the elected officers received absolute majority of votes from the Council incumbent members. GUAN Zhiqiang and PHUA Kai Hong were Chair and Vice Chair for 2006-2008. June 28th, 2006, Nancy Travis and Miguel Valentin were elected as 2006-2008 Chair and Chair-elect of the Council Advisory Committee with receiving absolute majority of votes from the Council Advisory Committee members.

Council 2nd Teleconference
July 10th, 2006, 8:30-9:30 PM USEST, GUAN Zhiqiang chaired the Council 2nd teleconference. Issues of the Council membership development and Council newsletter, including its format, contents, news resource, editor and operations, were mainly discussed. It was suggested that all six elected Council officers serve on the newsletter editorial board.
Council Advisory Committee 1st Teleconference
July 11th, 2006, 8:30 AM US EST, Nancy Travis chaired the Council Advisory Committee first teleconference. At the teleconference Han Dehui from Siemens China Ltd was nominated to the Council. It was also decided to recruit more members on the Advisory Committee. MDD News Editorial Board Teleconference
August 15th, 2006, GUAN Zhiqiang chaired the the Council newsletter Editorial Board teleconference further discussing the newsletter. It was decided that the newsletter would be issued quarterly; the beginning issue would include Member Portfolios, Council Activities, Announcements and Opinions. The further issues would add industry innovations and medical devices and diagnostics outcomes research policies and backgrounds. Medical Device & Diagnostics News
