Risk-sharing Agreements: All Pain or Some Gain?

Risk-sharing is increasingly becoming an important facet of pricing and reimbursement strategies in both Europe and the US.  These types of agreements enable payers to transfer some (or all!) of the risk to manufacturers in situations where there is uncertainty as to a product's value.  By linking reimbursement to patient outcomes, manufacturers try to secure appropriate pricing for successful innovations while payers are protected from paying for ineffective options.
