Reducing the Disease Burden of COPD in Singapore: Current Status and
Progress

COPD is a leading cause of death and hospitalizations in Singapore. COPD
mortality has decreased substantially but remains at high levels.
Anti-tobacco policies have reduced smoking prevalence, but current
management of COPD remains unsatisfactory. Innovative strategies to
reduce disease burden will be presented. |

Cost of
COPD and Cost-Effectiveness of Tiotropium in Japan

During this presentation, the estimated cost of COPD in Japan will be
presented. The cost-effectiveness of Tiotropium, using the modeling
guidelines for COPD developed by Oostenbrink, Rutten-van Molken, and
McDonell [2002], will be discussed. Oostenbrink et al developed a Markov
model of exacerbations of COPD with and without medication.
