The Use of Economic Models in Diabetes

The evaluation of cost-effectiveness and value of medical interventions requires the use of economic models in complex diseases.  Diabetes is a chronic disease with many complications. Short-term and long-term complications, as well as co-existing diseases, make the management of this disease challenging.  In this symposium we will discuss the challenges and approaches needed for the appropriate use of cost-effectiveness models in diabetes.

VALUE OF ANTIVIRAL TREATMENTS FOR CHRONIC HEPATITIS B

Due to its high prevalence rate, chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a public health concern in most countries of the Asia-Pacific region. New antiviral treatments have emerged for CHB with different clinical profiles and drug acquisition costs. These new treatments have created issues relating to how to evaluate the value of different antivirals for CHB. This symposium aims to address these issues through review and discussion of current literature on the topic.
